A New Year's book exhibition has opened in the main hall of the Baku Sports Palace. Independent publishing houses and bookstores have participated in the exhibition, which runs every day from 10:00 to 19:00 since December 15.
"Purchasing power was good yesterday, better today, and better tomorrow.
Shahbaz Khuduoglu, director of the Qanun Publishing House, said this while sharing his views on the exhibition. According to him, there should be book exhibitions, such as film and music festivals.
"Such exhibitions are very useful. It gradually becomes a habit. People understand that in addition to agricultural products, book exhibitions should be held in Baku. This is a useful and cultural event for our society. Such exhibitions must be sustainable. ”
Ş. Khuduoglu assessed the impact of the exhibition on the Azerbaijani book market. He noted that the book market is expanding day by day.
"If 50,000 books were sold at the previous exhibition, the number at the fair is 100,000. In addition, there are more publishing houses at the fair. Even a publishing house in Ganja participates here. There are also discounts on books and favorable prices for customers. Publishers understand that by selling books, they both attract different audiences and become more independent. No industry can develop without a free market. The free market for books must also be formed. That free market is also being formed at this exhibition. ”
